MOSES PETELO

Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, Moses now calls Brisbane, Australia, home, where he inspires people of all fitness levels through his work as a CrossFit coach and athlete.

Growing up in Wellington, Moses was passionate about soccer from the age of four, playing well into his early 20s. His love for the game drove him to push for the top, and in 2007, he made the bold move to Brisbane to chase it.

After an ACL injury turned his world upside down, Moses decided to turn it into an opportunity for growth. During his recovery, Moses discovered CrossFit - and it was love at first workout. Beyond the physical challenges, he was drawn to the sense of community and connection, sparking a new chapter in his life.

With a passion for people, Moses found his calling not just as an athlete but as a mentor and community leader. His own journey in CrossFit inspired him to help others discover their potential, transforming his fitness journey into a thriving business. What started as a humble bootcamp grew into something far greater. With a vision to create a space where people felt empowered and supported, Moses purchased a functional training facility. Two years later, it became a CrossFit affiliate, now known as CrossFit EXF.

CrossFit EXF quickly evolved from a gym into a dynamic and inclusive community - a place where people of all levels come together to grow, support each other, and chase their goals. As the community grew, so did the need for a larger space. Moses made the bold move to expand to a facility three times the size of the original, a testament to the thriving community he has nurtured.

As an athlete, Moses has achieved incredible milestones in CrossFit. In the 2024 CrossFit Open, he ranked 314th worldwide, 33rd in the Oceania region, and 9th in New Zealand. He advanced to the Individual Quarterfinals and competed as part of the CrossFit EXF team, earning an impressive 3rd place at the Oceania Semifinal and finishing 19th at the CrossFit Games.

But for Moses, the true measure of success isn’t just about competition; it’s about creating impact. His mantra? Show up, put in the work, and lift those around you. Whether it’s through CrossFit EXF or his own example, Moses’ passion for people shines through in everything he does, building not just stronger athletes but a stronger community.

From Wellington to Brisbane, from soccer to CrossFit, and from athlete to business owner, Moses’ story is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the power of pursuing your purpose. Whether you’re stepping into CrossFit EXF for the first time or striving for your next personal best, Moses’ journey is a reminder that every success starts with showing up - and the rest is history.
